Since our children are our most precious commodity, we want to do everything to protect them during this year’s flu season. For that reason, I wanted to share a quick “children update”  for the Swine Flu.

The H1N1 Vaccine for children – the early results are in and show that children ages 6 months – 9 years will need 2 shots. Above age 10 years – only one shot. Check with your pediatrician!

5 things you can do to keep your kids safe this flu season:

1. Don’t send them to school if they are sick – they won’t be able to focus anyway, and why expose other kids unnecessarily?

2. Make sure your kids have had all of their immunizations,  Plus get them the H1N1 shot(s) when it becomes available.

3. Teach your children the value of hand washing – and send some sanitizer in their lunch boxes!!!!

4. Teach kids to cover their coughs and sneezes the proper way. Not so glamorous, but this means they cough (or sneeze) into their ARM not their hands!

5. Start every day with a healthy breakfast.
